Potential Films was established in 1989 to bring an eclectic mix of audacious cinema, old and new, to screens in Australia and New Zealand.

This tradition of catering for special markets is continuing into the future, focusing on:

Cinema Classics - the most recent being a longer version of Antonioni's THE PASSENGER never before screened in Australia.
Contemporary Foreign Cinema - recent and upcoming releases include Tony Gatlif's latest gypsy-fest TRANSYLVANIA, Catherine Breillat's new film AN OLD MISTRESS (Une vieille maitresse) and the Swedish tragic comedy YOU THE LIVING (Du Levande) by Roy Andersson.

Our partnership with Chapel Distribution offers another huge range of cinema classics chiefly from the MGM, Warner Bros. and United Artists libraries with extra titles being re-issued in new prints each year.

Recent additions include John Huston's THE AFRICAN QUEEN, Sam Fuller's THE BIG RED ONE (reconstructed), Leone's A FISTFUL OF DYNAMITE (reconstructed), Keaton's THE GENERAL, plus GREMLINS and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.
